Yokohoma recalling one size of all

Apr 05, 2024

Yokohama is recalling 6,992 of size 11R22.5 of the 504C medium truck tire manufactured at Yokohama’s plant in West Point, Miss., between June 27 and Dec. 4, 2022.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Corp. is voluntarily recalling nearly 7,000 of its 504C all-position commercial tire in size 11R22.5 due to animproperly manufactured cushion splice that could allow air to migrate into the sidewall, increasing the risk of a tire failure.

The 504C is designed for use on semi-trucks in on- and off-highway applications.

Yokohama said it has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the recall. The tire maker said 6,992 tires, size 11R22.5, that were manufactured at Yokohama's plant in West Point, Miss., between June 27 and Dec. 4, 2022, are being recalled.

The tires being recalled carry the sidewall designations: FA 3T JBH 2622 3122; FA 3T JBH 3522 3722; and FA 3T JBH 4322 4822.

The tire line was launched in early 2020 at that year's Technology & Maintenance Council trade show in Atlanta.

Yokohama said it replace free of charge any tires subject to this recall with tires of comparable value, including cost of mounting and balancing the replacement tires.

If the owner chooses to replace the tires with another manufacturer's tires, Yokohama will offer a pro-rated tread depth credit of the original purchase price.

If an owner already has incurred costs in order to remedy a tire within the recall population, Yokohama said it will reimburse those costs to include the inspection, replacement tire, mounting and balancing.

YTC also will compensate dealers for costs incurred for inspecting and replacing all tires subject to this recall.
